Privacy Policy

This page explains what Know Your Plate collects, what it does not collect, and what happens to it. Short version: we do not want your personal data and we go out of our way not to gather it.

What we collect

If you email us at [email protected], we have your email address and whatever you chose to put in the message. We keep it only to reply to you and to fix whatever you told us was broken. We do not add you to a mailing list, because we do not run one.

Like nearly every website, our host records standard server logs when a page is requested: an IP address, the page requested, a timestamp, a browser and operating system string, and the page that referred you. These logs are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you.

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to count how many people read a given recipe and which pages they arrive from. This tells us that four hundred people read the chili recipe. It does not tell us who they are, and we do not try to find out.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for and do not want any health information about you. Do not send us your blood sugar readings, your lab results, your diagnosis, or your medication list. If you send health details in an email anyway, we will not store them, share them, or use them for anything. Please see the disclaimer, since we cannot advise you on any of it regardless.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. There is no advertising network running behind these pages and no affiliate tracking on our recipes.

Cookies

The site sets a small number of functional cookies. WordPress may set one if you leave a comment, so that the form remembers your name next time. Our caching layer may set one to serve pages faster. None of them follow you to other websites.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The recipes will still work.

Other sites we link to

Articles sometimes link to outside pages, such as a general health reference or a source for a claim. Once you follow a link off this site, you are subject to that site’s privacy practices, not ours. We have no control over what they collect.

Children

Know Your Plate is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it. If you want to know what we hold about you, ask and we will tell you, though for almost everyone the honest answer is nothing at all.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the updated version will be posted here. Questions go to [email protected].
